On April 20, 2026, a meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council was held in Moscow under the Russian chairmanship. Secretary General Taalatbek Masadykov delivered a report on "The implementation of the decisions of the November 2025 session of the CSTO Collective Security Council and measures taken to counter challenges and threats to collective security," according to the CSTO press service.
Delegations from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan are participating in the meeting. The meeting is chaired by Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Chairman of the Russian State Duma.


The agenda for the discussion includes issues of harmonizing the legislation of the organization's member states, as well as measures to counter challenges and threats in the CSTO's area of responsibility. It is noted that the Russian Federation holds the current chairmanship of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
The Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization adopted a statement on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its founding, the Organization's press service reported.
The document notes that over two decades, the Parliamentary Assembly has become an important element of the collective security system, ensuring effective parliamentary interaction among the organization's member states and promoting the convergence and harmonization of national legislation. It emphasizes that this work is aimed at strengthening national and collective security, as well as maintaining peace, stability, and the sovereignty of the member states.
The statement also emphasizes the importance of joint legislative work in the areas of defense, military development, and security. Particular attention is given to efforts to counter modern challenges and threats, including terrorism, extremism, drug and arms trafficking, cyber threats, and transnational crime. It is noted that over the years of the Assembly's work, important model legislation has been adopted, contributing to the development of a collective security system.
The Assembly Council expressed gratitude to the parliaments of the organization's member states for their participation in the development of the structure, support for initiatives to improve crisis response, legal support for the military component and peacekeeping potential, as well as for facilitating the ratification of key international treaties and monitoring electoral processes.
The document places particular emphasis on developing cooperation with international organizations, including the UN, CIS, and SCO, as well as interaction with the parliaments of states that share the organization's principles and values, in order to strengthen international and regional security.
The statement reaffirms the commitment to strengthening international peace and security based on international law and existing treaties. It emphasizes that cooperation within the Assembly will contribute to the development of a system of equal and indivisible security in Eurasia.
It is noted that the Parliamentary Assembly advocates for collective action to ensure global and regional security, emphasizing the inadmissibility of coercion and interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states. The document also expresses its intention to continue developing allied relations, integration processes, and the formation of a just and secure world based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
