Trade turnover between China and five Central Asian countries exceeded $100 billion in 2025, reaching a new all-time high, demonstrating the strong momentum of bilateral cooperation, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Monday.
This also testifies to the guiding and stimulating role of the China-Central Asia format, he stated at a regular departmental press conference, citing statistics from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China.
According to Guo Jiakun, while global economic growth remains sluggish and the international trading system faces a serious setback, trade and economic cooperation between China and Central Asia is advancing, with bilateral trade volume reaching a new record high. This demonstrates the strong momentum of cooperation between China and Central Asia, confirms the guiding and stimulating role of the China-Central Asia format, and marks a new milestone in the history of cooperation between China and Central Asia.
He added that over the past year, relations between China and Central Asian countries have developed rapidly, the China-Central Asia format has been further refined, cooperation on the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative has steadily advanced, and friendly exchanges between peoples have become even closer.
"In particular, the successful holding of the second China-Central Asia Summit marked the entry of bilateral cooperation into a new stage of high-quality development," he noted.
China is willing to work with Central Asian countries to take advantage of the favorable situation and continue to develop the "China-Central Asia Spirit," improve and strengthen the "China-Central Asia" format, promote comprehensive cooperation in the direction of innovation, high quality, and practicality, and make joint efforts to build a closer community with a shared future for China and Central Asia, Guo Jiakun concluded.
