A Tashkent court has fined an Uzbek resident 1.23 million soums (approximately $100) for making a false police call against US President Donald Trump alleging the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
According to the case file, the man, while intoxicated, called the Tashkent Main Department of Internal Affairs and asked to file a complaint against the US president. Police officers then asked him to come to the nearest station to file a formal complaint, but he failed to appear.
At the court hearing, the man admitted his guilt, explaining that he was drunk, did not remember the meaning of his statement, and did not understand the possible consequences of his actions.
The court qualified his actions under Article 199 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, "Knowingly making a false call to specialized services," and sentenced him to a fine of three basic units—1.23 million soums.
