MegaFon Tajikistan's network closed the holiday night with over 38 million calls and 3,500 TB of internet traffic. From December 31 to January 1, the company's subscribers made 29% more calls than the previous year, while data traffic increased by 34%.
On New Year's Eve, everyone wants to be with their loved ones. That's why the holiday night invariably becomes a "record-breaking time" for mobile networks. Greetings fly to every corner of Tajikistan and other countries, and every word must reach its intended recipient in a timely manner. To ensure subscribers experience no inconvenience, MegaFon Tajikistan engineers conducted a comprehensive network check in advance across the country, increased the capacity of base stations in areas of expected activity, and configured backup communication channels. And on the holiday, specialists worked intensified to ensure subscribers could freely use all communication services.
New Year's Eve also demonstrated how communication habits are changing. SMS is giving way to digital formats: subscribers are increasingly choosing video calls, instant messaging apps, and social media for greetings. More than half of all holiday internet traffic was spent on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. VoLTE is also growing in popularity: the number of voice calls made on 4G/LTE networks increased by 60% compared to last New Year's Eve.
Network reliability is the result of extensive work carried out by the operator throughout the year. In 2025, MegaFon Tajikistan built over 170 new sites and commissioned over 460 4G base stations . Particular attention was paid to backup power supply for communications facilities. Dozens of diesel generators and hundreds of batteries were repaired or replaced. This allowed the network to operate reliably even under maximum loads.
Over the course of the year, the transport infrastructure—fiber-optic communication lines that carry a huge volume of traffic between cities and regions of Tajikistan—was also significantly upgraded. In key areas, the capacity of highways was increased tenfold , which had a positive impact on the speed and stability of mobile internet. In Dushanbe, almost 50% of the transport network rings were upgraded in 2025, and their capacity increased tenfold.
The operator's high quality of service was confirmed by DMTEL, which conducted an independent, large-scale study of mobile communications across the country in 2025. DMTEL experts analyzed network performance in populated areas and on highways totaling over 3,300 km. Based on a combination of indicators, MegaFon Tajikistan took first place – recognized as the leader in coverage, share of successful voice connections, and mobile internet speed.
The holidays pass quickly, but the emotions and warm greetings linger long afterward. So does the reliable infrastructure that continues to operate to keep MegaFon Tajikistan subscribers closer to each other, both on holidays and weekdays.
