Border troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan issued an official statement regarding the incident on the state border with Afghanistan, as reported by NIAT KHOVAR.
It was reported that on December 23, 2025, at 11:30 p.m., three members of a terrorist organization violated the state border and entered the territory of Tajikistan in the area of responsibility of border outpost No. 5 "Bog" of Border Detachment 0341 "Sarchashma", stationed in the village of Kavok in the Shamsiddin Shokhin district.
As a result of timely operational-search activities, at 11:15 a.m. on December 24 of this year, the location of terrorists on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan was established.
It is noted that the violators refused to comply with the lawful demand of Tajik border guards to surrender and offered armed resistance. According to the Border Troops, their intention was to carry out an armed attack on one of the border outposts of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the combat operation, all three terrorists were neutralized. Three M-16 firearms, a Kalashnikov assault rifle, three foreign-made pistols with silencers, ten hand grenades, a night vision device, explosives, and other ammunition and military equipment were seized from the scene.
Unfortunately, during the armed clash and while preventing this terrorist attack, two servicemen of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan, Navruzbekov Zirekhbon Nagzibekovich and Kurbonov Ismatullo Gulomovich, were killed.
The statement emphasizes that this is the third instance in the past month of an armed attack, terrorist act, and illegal crossing of the state border from Afghanistan into Tajikistan, resulting in the deaths of civilians and military personnel.
According to the Tajik side, these facts clearly demonstrate the Taliban government's inability, as well as its serious and repeated irresponsibility in fulfilling its international obligations and repeated promises to ensure security and stability on the state border with the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as in the fight against members of terrorist organizations.
The Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan express hope that the leadership of the Taliban government will apologize to the people of Tajikistan and take additional effective measures to ensure border security with Tajikistan.
The statement also emphasizes that the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan possess all the necessary physical and combat capabilities to ensure border security. Tajik border guards will continue to defend the state border and the country's territorial integrity from external attacks with full dedication, as well as provide a fitting response to terrorist groups, smugglers, and any attempts to violate the state border from Afghanistan.
The situation at the state border currently remains calm. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
