On the night of December 14-15, Tajik athletes who participated in the 5th Asian Youth Para Games in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from December 7-14, returned home with major sporting achievements. The National Paralympic Committee of Tajikistan announced that the delegation won four medals: one gold and three silver.
At Dushanbe International Airport, the athletes were met by the leadership of the Committee for Youth and Sports, the National Olympic Committee, and the National Paralympic Committee of Tajikistan.
During the welcoming ceremony, the leadership of the National Paralympic Committee emphasized that the achievements of the Tajik delegation are of particular importance for the development of Paralympic sports in the country and serve as an example for the youth of Tajikistan.
In the afternoon, a ceremony was held to celebrate the athletes' successful performance. The leadership of the Committee for Youth and Sports, the National Olympic Committee, the National Paralympic Committee, and the athletes themselves attended the event. It was noted that such achievements contribute to raising the national flag of the Republic of Tajikistan on the international stage and provide a significant boost to the development of Paralympic sports in the country. The importance of participating in international competitions was emphasized, not only for winning medals but also for raising the status of Paralympic sports and motivating young people with disabilities.
The leadership of the National Paralympic Committee and the athletes expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, for his continued support and attention to the development of sport in the country. On this day, junior athletes and their coaches were also recognized for their outstanding achievements at the 5th Asian Junior Para Games.
Akhmad Fathidin won the gold medal in the 65 kg weightlifting category. He lifted 135 kg, setting a world record and a historic achievement for Tajikistan's Paralympic sport.
Mizrobiddin Olimov won the silver medal in the 49 kg weight class. Khaitzhon Khusainov won two other silver medals in arm wrestling, finishing second in the open left-handed and right-handed weight classes among athletes from ten countries.
The delegation of Tajik athletes was able to participate in the competition in Dubai thanks to the ongoing support of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Mayor of Dushanbe, Rustami Emomali, as well as the assistance of the leadership of the Committee for Youth and Sports, the National Olympic Committee, and the National Paralympic Committee of Tajikistan.
