Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has become the first person in history to reach a net worth of over $600 billion, Forbes magazine reports.
As the publication points out, in early December, the space company SpaceX announced a public offering, valuing the company at $800 billion. Previously, in August 2025, investors estimated SpaceX's value at $400 billion.
As a result of this valuation, Elon Musk's net worth, which he owns approximately 42% of SpaceX shares, increased by approximately $168 billion to $677 billion. Musk is now the first person in history whose net worth exceeded $600 billion. According to Forbes, no one has previously held a net worth of $500 billion or more.
A SpaceX IPO at this valuation could make Musk a trillionaire. His stake in SpaceX is currently valued at $336 billion, making it his most valuable asset. Musk's stake in Tesla is valued at $197 billion.
Musk is now closer to trillionaire status than losing his title as the world's richest person, with a $425 billion advantage over the second-richest person, Google co-founder Larry Page, whose net worth is estimated at $252 billion.
For comparison, Elon Musk's net worth was estimated at $24.6 billion in March 2020. In January 2021, he became the richest person on the planet, and that same year, his fortune exceeded $200 billion and $300 billion. In 2024, it surpassed $400 billion and $500 billion for the first time.
The only other entrepreneur whose net worth has reached the $300 billion and $400 billion marks is Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison.
