Gulbahor Naziri, Deputy Chairperson of the National Bank of Tajikistan, participated in a high-level roundtable discussion on "Global Dialogue on Women's Leadership and Inclusive Gender Finance" and a closed session on sustainable development, AFI resource mobilization, and the global agenda for inclusive green finance. The meetings were held at the European Investment Bank headquarters and the AFI European Office in Luxembourg, the NBT press department reported.
During a high-level roundtable discussion, which brought together leaders from the public and private sectors to discuss policy and market approaches to promoting women's financial inclusion, supporting women's leadership, economic empowerment, and institutional diversity in the financial sector, participants exchanged views on their experiences in the field of gender equality and women's leadership in the financial sector.
At a closed meeting held on November 25, participants discussed issues related to sustainable development, AFI resource mobilization, and shaping the global agenda for inclusive green finance.
Deputy Chairperson of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Gulbahor Naziri, stated in her speech that the Republic of Tajikistan views the development of a green economy as an important way to modernize the economy, attract investment, strengthen energy security and financial stability, and at the national level, this process is being implemented through a number of important strategic documents, including the Green Economy Development Strategy for 2023–2037, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and the National Adaptation Plan (NAP).
The National Bank of Tajikistan has also integrated climate factors into its financial regulation and supervision system and initiated a number of new institutional measures, such as the adoption of an Action Plan for the Implementation of the Green Economy Strategy, the creation of a working group on green finance, the development of an Action Plan for Green Financial Products, and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on environmental, social, and climate risk management. At the same time, active participation in international networks, including NGFS, SBFN, and AFI, allows the National Bank of Tajikistan to access best international practices and modern tools for green financial regulation.
As part of the event, Deputy Chairperson of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Gulbahor Naziri, held a working meeting with Luxembourg Finance Minister Gilles Roth, AFI Director General Alfred Hannig, and the leadership of several central banks from AFI member countries. During the meeting, issues related to expanding bilateral cooperation, establishing and improving business relations with developed countries, and engaging development partners to support the implementation of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2022–2026 were discussed.
