An environmental campaign to restore fish stocks at the Nurek Hydroelectric Power Station reservoir was conducted in Tajikistan. This was reported by the press service of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the agency, more than 1 million juvenile carp, silver carp, and grass carp were released into the reservoir on November 24. The event was organized by the Environmental Protection Committee to restore fish populations and maintain ecological balance.
The committee noted that this event contributes to increasing fish stocks and plays a significant role in ensuring the country's food security. As part of the campaign, young fish were released into the Bahri Norak Reservoir ecosystem, which will strengthen the sustainability of aquatic bioresources.
The agency emphasized that the protection and restoration of fish resources are a key focus of state environmental policy. Similar measures are planned for other reservoirs in the Khatlon region, including the Boygozi and Sarband reservoirs.
Taking into account the impact of climate change, the implementation of such actions contributes to the preservation of the hydrobiological balance and biological diversity of natural water bodies.
