Fish farming production in Tajikistan increased by 8.9% from January to September 2025 compared to the same period last year, reaching 96.7 million somoni, according to NIAT KHOVAR, citing the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the specified period, the total fish catch in the country amounted to 3,094.0 tons, of which 1,912.8 tons were caught in the Khatlon region, 631.6 tons in the Sughd region, 1.5 tons in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, and 548.1 tons in urban fisheries.
In the catch structure, the main types of fish are: silver carp – 1,057.2 tons, carp – 308.9 tons, trout – 529.4 tons, grass carp – 289.8 tons, pike perch – 10.3 tons and other species – 898.5 tons.
During the reporting period, 2,678.7 tons of concentrated fish feed were delivered, of which 570.6 tons were delivered to farms in Khatlon Region, 3.7 tons to Sughd Region, 0.7 tons to GBAO, 1.5 tons to Dushanbe, and 2,102.2 tons to fishery enterprises of republican subordination. As of October 1, 2025, the remaining concentrated feed was: 35.5 tons in Khatlon Region, 1 ton in Sughd Region, 0.3 tons in GBAO, 0.5 tons in Dushanbe, and 1,613.3 tons in the RRS.
Production costs for fish farming and research and development for the first nine months of 2025 amounted to 22,950.0 thousand somoni, of which 4,870.5 thousand somoni were spent on farms in Khatlon Oblast, 3,228.9 thousand somoni in Sughd Oblast, 83.5 thousand somoni in GBAO, 64.2 thousand somoni in Dushanbe, and 14,702.9 thousand somoni in the RRS.
