In the first half of 2025, 592 hectares of orchards and vineyards were planted in Tajikistan, including 511 hectares of orchards (including 106 hectares of intensive cultivation) and 81 hectares of new vineyards. During this period, 2,521 hectares of old orchards and vineyards were also restored. This was reported to journalists at a press conference at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan.
It was emphasized that the use of modern equipment and technology in the industry, as well as mandatory compliance with agricultural regulations, create a favorable basis for the development of the horticultural and viticultural industry in the country, playing an important role in increasing land productivity, especially in orchards and vineyards.
During the first half of this year, farmers across the country carried out inter-row cultivation and thinning of trees and shrubs on an area of 99,814 hectares, tree pruning on an area of 112,772 hectares, frost protection on an area of 63,563 hectares, and chemical treatment on an area of 89,851 hectares. These measures have had a positive impact on reducing pest numbers.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the "Program for the Development of Horticulture, Viticulture and Citrus Growing in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2025-2029", during which the area of vineyards will be increased.
The program is aimed at developing horticulture and viticulture, providing food and raw materials, increasing exports, and reducing import dependence.
