During the first six months of 2025, 222 emergency incidents and situations were registered in Tajikistan, according to Rajabali Rahmonali, Chairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to him, six people died as a result of the emergency. Specifically, three people were killed by avalanches in the Varzob, Ayni, and Penjikent districts, two were killed by lightning strikes in Penjikent and Devashtich, and another person was killed by an earthquake in the Rasht district.
As Rahmonali noted, 676 residential buildings, 165 buildings and commercial facilities, 12 educational institutions, three medical facilities, seven cultural and public amenities, 21.6 kilometers of roads, and one bridge were damaged by natural disasters during this period. Sixty-two livestock were also lost—17 cattle and 45 sheep.
As a result of nine major incidents, the economies of cities and regions suffered damage in the amount of 19 million 665 thousand 300 somoni.
