The Second Conference of the Working Group on Civil Aviation Cooperation between Central Asian Countries and China is taking place in Astana. The Chinese side presented its proposals for improving air travel in the region, Kazinform reports.
Bai Wenli, Deputy Director General of the International Relations Department of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, noted that aviation plays a vital role in the creation of a Eurasian transport hub. Over the past year, the number of direct flights between China and Central Asian countries has nearly doubled compared to 2024 and tripled since 2019. China now has direct flights to all five capital cities of the region.
Bai Wenli highlighted five key proposals from China for further cooperation:
1. Maintain airline partnerships and expand passenger and cargo transportation.
2. Simplify customs procedures and transfers for the convenience of passengers.
3. Modernize airports and reduce the cost of aviation fuel.
4. Strengthen flight safety controls.
5. Expand technical exchange and personnel training.
According to her, aviation development in the region is only possible with the joint efforts of all countries. In conclusion, Bai Wenli quoted the Chinese proverb: "One horse cannot raise ten pounds of dust," emphasizing the importance of pooling efforts and teamwork to achieve greater results.
For countries in the region, this means the need for active cooperation with neighbors and partners to jointly develop aviation infrastructure and improve transport corridors. Such joint efforts will help the country strengthen its position in the Eurasian aviation space and contribute to the economic growth of the region as a whole.
Representatives of aviation authorities, airlines, and airports from China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan are participating in the conference. The event aims to strengthen cooperation in civil aviation.
