Iran is preparing the conditions for launching rail service with Central Asia, including the cities of Merv (Turkmenistan) and Dushanbe (Tajikistan), according to Jabbar Ali Zakeri, Director General of the National Iranian Railways (RAJA).
According to him, the new routes are part of Iran's strategy to modernize its transport infrastructure and strengthen regional cooperation. A specific timeline for the launch of rail service with Tajikistan has not yet been set.
Zakeri also announced the imminent launch of two international routes connecting Iran with Turkey, Afghanistan, and Central Asian countries. One route will connect Tehran with Ankara and will be operational within the next two months. The second route, Tehran-Herat, will begin operations by the end of next month.
