Starting September 1 of this year, more than 100 schools in Tajikistan will offer additional artificial intelligence classes. According to the Council on Artificial Intelligence under the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, which initiated the program, the classes will be held free of charge once a week for 10th and 11th grade students.
According to the Council, the project is a pilot project and is intended to prepare the groundwork for the subsequent introduction of a new subject, "Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence," into the school curriculum.
Of the 100 schools included in the project, 60 are located in Dushanbe, and another 40 are in other regions of the country. When selecting schools, factors such as high-speed internet access, interactive whiteboards, and a high level of student preparation, particularly in mathematics, were taken into account.
It is noted that last year, a similar project was implemented in 25 schools across the country, including 18 in the capital and seven in Khujand and Konibodom. The pilot phase yielded positive results, allowing the initiative to be expanded.
According to the "Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence until 2040," by 2028, all schools in the republic plan to introduce artificial intelligence as a separate subject.
