On August 26, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, made a working visit to the cities and districts of the Rasht Valley to observe living conditions and inaugurate new social facilities. This was reported by the presidential press service.
The working visit began in the Tajikabad district. In a new settlement in the rural jamoat of Langari Shokh, the President commissioned residential buildings for families affected by the earthquake. A total of 36 houses were built: 14 four-room houses for completely destroyed homes and 22 two-room houses for partially damaged families. The houses are equipped with all necessary appliances and furniture, including bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and other amenities.
As a reminder, on April 13, 2025, an earthquake damaged 471 properties in 13 villages in the Tajikabad district. Thirty-three houses were completely destroyed, 164 partially destroyed, and three schools, two first-aid stations, a district hospital, and other facilities were damaged. The total damage is estimated at approximately 8 million somoni.
In the first hours after the disaster, at the direction of the President, a commission of relevant ministries was established to assess the damage and address the consequences. Over 50 million somoni was allocated for the delivery of building materials and food to residents of the district.
Over the course of four months, homes for 197 families were built in the villages of Qal'ai Labi Ob and Langari Shokh. The new settlement is equipped with all necessary infrastructure: an 11-kilometer water pipeline has been installed, 2.5 kilometers of roads have been paved, street lighting has been installed, a sports ground, and a first aid station have been established.
President Emomali Rahmon emphasized the need to construct all new facilities in compliance with seismic-resistant architectural and construction standards and using high-quality materials.
In addition, construction of a comprehensive school for 600 students, a preschool for 100 children, and other social and domestic facilities is planned in Langari Shokh.
During the visit, the President also inaugurated five new facilities in the district online: the building of Secondary School No. 44 in the village of Safedmun, a first aid station, a water supply line for 557 households, a primary health care facility, and an additional building for the Child Development Center.
The head of state was accompanied by the Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Faizali Idizoda, and the heads of relevant ministries and departments.
