Tajik President Emomali Rahmon will hold a traditional Peace Lesson for high school and university students on August 30, the country's Ministry of Education and Science reported.
This year, the event will be held at the International University of Tourism and Entrepreneurship of Tajikistan. During the lesson, the head of state will meet with education professionals, discuss the sector's achievements and challenges, and outline the challenges facing educators and educational institutions.
The event will be attended by students in grades 8–11 and university students. They will be able to watch the president's speech live on television. This is a non-school day for students in grades 1–7—younger students will remain at home.
The school year in Tajikistan traditionally begins on September 1. This year, the lesson was moved to August 30 because Emomali Rahmon will be in China on September 1 to attend a meeting of the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The annual Peace Lesson is an important tradition in Tajikistan's education system. It aims to enhance patriotic education, promote the values of peace and harmony among schoolchildren and students, and stimulate the development of the country's educational system.
