Rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z has been named the world's richest musician by Forbes. His net worth has reached $2.6 billion, more than a billion more than his nearest competitor.
The artist's financial success is based on the alcohol business. His wealth significantly increased after selling some of his assets: in 2021, the LVMH group acquired a 50% stake in the Armand de Brignac champagne brand, and in 2023, Jay-Z sold a significant stake in the D'Usse cognac house to Bacardi. His investment portfolio also includes shares in Uber and other tech companies, an art collection, and the Roc Nation music label.
Taylor Swift's net worth is estimated at $1.6 billion, making her the richest female musician. Unlike Jay-Z, her wealth comes primarily from her music career: approximately $600 million comes from royalties and touring, with another $600 million coming from her music catalog.
Rihanna, who previously topped the list of the richest female musicians, now ranks third with a fortune $300 million below her peak of $1.7 billion. Her successful cosmetics brand Fenty Beauty remains her primary source of income.
Jay-Z became hip-hop's first billionaire in 2019, with an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion. Beyond his business achievements, the artist has also received recognition in the music industry: he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, and won an Emmy Award in 2022 for producing the Super Bowl halftime show.
