The Tajikistan national team drew with 2026 World Cup participant Iran in the final round of the group stage of the 2025 CAFA Nations Cup, the FFT reports.
The match took place on Thursday, September 4, at the Hisor Central Stadium and attracted more than 18,000 spectators.
The Tajikistan team, trailing 2-0, managed to show character and equalize. Our team's central defender, Zoir Juraboev, scored his own goal. The Iranians also scored their own goal, an own goal by goalkeeper Saed Payam Niyazmand.
In another Group B match, Afghanistan and India failed to score.
Thus, the Iranian team took first place in the group with seven points and advanced to the final of the 2025 CAFA Nations Cup. India and Tajikistan each earned four points, but due to their head-to-head record, India moved into second place and will now play in the match for third place.
