A gala reception dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the Republic of Tajikistan's state independence was held in the Russian capital. The Tajik Embassy in Russia reported this.
The event was attended by members of the Federation Council, State Duma deputies, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government bodies of the Russian Federation, heads of diplomatic missions, diplomats, representatives of business and academic circles, cultural figures, media outlets, and compatriots living in Russia.
In his speech, the head of the diplomatic mission of Tajikistan informed the guests about the country's political, social, and cultural achievements over the years of independence, noting the special contribution of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, to the construction of the modern Tajik state.
The growing role of Tajikistan in the international arena was emphasized, as was the strategic nature of cooperation with the Russian Federation.
Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Nikolai Zhuravlev and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Alexander Pankin also addressed those present with welcoming remarks. The Russian side congratulated Tajikistan on its national holiday and praised the level of bilateral cooperation.
The gala reception was accompanied by a cultural program showcasing the history, traditions, and customs of the Tajik people. Guests were treated to an exhibition showcasing products from national producers, fresh and dried fruits, folk art, including traditional clothing, chakan embroidery, and paintings, as well as the country's tourism potential.
