A 130-year-old resident of Uzbekistan has been recognized as the world's oldest woman.

The Uzbek Ministry of Justice announced that the age of the oldest person in Uzbekistan, and possibly the world, 130-year-old Khuvaido Umarova (Toshmatova), has been officially confirmed, Tengri Life reports, citing Gazeta.uz.

According to the publication, the fact of the birth of a resident of the Korakum mahalla in the Buvaida district of the Fergana region, who was born on January 1, 1895, was established by the court at an off-site hearing at her home.

"Now Umarova Khuvaido Momo is officially considered the oldest woman in Uzbekistan," the department said in a statement.

Previously, the district justice department determined that Umarova's birth had not been officially registered and filed a lawsuit. The Kokand Interdistrict Civil Court upheld the claim.

According to the article, Umarova's relatives planned to submit an application for her inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest person on the planet. However, her passport, issued in 1999, lacked a date of birth.

Following the official confirmation of age, the Ministry of Justice noted that such recognition was now possible.

"We are monitoring developments," the department added.

As a reminder, in August of this year, the Guinness Book of World Records declared British woman Ethel Caterham the oldest person in the world. She is now 116 years old.

The British woman lived a fascinating life. In 1927, at the age of 18, she boarded a ship for a three-week voyage that led her to a new life in India. A few days later, she married, and the couple had two daughters. In 1976, she lost her beloved husband, and later, she lost her children.
