A fire broke out in the building under construction at the National Theater of Tajikistan. According to the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs Fire Service, the blaze started in a warehouse where construction materials were stored.
The fire alarm was received at 10:20 a.m. local time. Four fire engines were dispatched to the scene. Within 20 minutes, by 10:40 a.m., the fire was contained, and by 12:01 p.m., it was completely extinguished.
"The fire was extinguished without casualties," the department's press service reported. The cause of the fire, as well as possible culprits and the extent of the damage, will be determined by specialists after an expert examination.
Construction work has been suspended for inspections and to ensure the safety of personnel. Firefighters continue to patrol the site to prevent a recurrence of the fire.
