On September 16, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received Speaker of the Zhogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiyev at the Palace of the Nation. This was reported by the presidential press service.
During the reception, issues of bilateral cooperation of mutual interest were discussed, including the development of interparliamentary ties. The President of Tajikistan emphasized that the country attaches particular importance to multifaceted cooperation with its close neighbor, Kyrgyzstan. Parliamentary diplomacy plays a vital role in this process, facilitating the exchange of experience and support in the international arena.
The parties discussed the further development of cooperation in priority areas: trade, economics, transport and transit, agro-industrial complex, and the water and energy sectors. Particular attention was paid to expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
In addition, the presidents exchanged views on joint work within multilateral international organizations, including the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
