The construction of a youth football academy is planned in the Shugnan district of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) of Tajikistan, the Football Federation of Tajikistan (FFT) reported .
An FFT working group, led by Vice President Iskandar Jalilov, visited the region to assess the current state of sports infrastructure and discuss practical steps to develop football. The delegation included Abdullo Sokiyev, Director of the Tajikistan Children's and Youth Football League, and Bakhtovar Melikov, Head of the National Futsal League.
During the visit, a meeting was held with the Chairman of the GBAO, Alisher Mirzonabot. The focus was on the implementation of the instructions and directives of the FFT President, Rustam Emomali, issued in February 2025, aimed at developing youth football, improving the qualifications of coaches, and promoting the involvement of children in sports.
Following the talks, the working group visited the Shugnan District, where construction of a modern Youth Football Academy is planned, and inspected the status of the Khorog Central Stadium.
The visit's program included a children's football festival, a blitz tournament, and participation in the opening of a futsal tournament in Khorog. Additionally, a training seminar was organized for teachers from GBAO schools as part of FIFA's international "Football for Schools" program. Twelve teachers participated in the seminar, receiving modern teaching materials and practical recommendations for promoting football among schoolchildren.
The FFT noted the high interest in football among the region's residents and confirmed its readiness to continue its comprehensive support for the development of this sport in GBAO, including creating conditions for the development of young talent.
