Delegations from 12 countries have confirmed their participation in the 3rd Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Games, which will be held in Azerbaijan from September 28 to October 8. AzerTAc reported this on Tuesday.
According to the organizers, athletes from the CIS countries and several invited countries will participate in the competition. Azerbaijan has the largest delegation, with 340 participants. Russia will send 262 athletes, Kazakhstan will send 259, Uzbekistan 254, Belarus 240, Tajikistan 144, Kyrgyzstan 126, and Turkmenistan 48. Among the invited countries, Turkey (38 athletes), Kuwait (6), as well as Pakistan and Oman (4 athletes each) have confirmed their participation.
The competition will take place in seven cities across Azerbaijan: Ganja, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gabala, Sheki, Goygol, and Khankendi. The Games will span a total of 12 sports venues.
The 3rd CIS Games will be the largest sporting event of the year for the region and will promote friendly ties between the participating countries. Not only athletes but also official representatives of their countries are expected to attend.
