A delegation of specialists from Tajikistan participated in the international scientific and practical forum "Water Conservation and the Agro-Industrial Complex," which was held in Volgograd and focused on land reclamation and rational water use, reports NIAT Khovar.
The forum brought together over 170 leading experts from Tajikistan, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. Participants focused on contemporary challenges in water resources. Key topics included the development of land reclamation, the introduction of innovative irrigation technologies, the use of alternative water sources, and the adaptation of agriculture to moisture-deficit conditions.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of digital technologies for optimizing water consumption. Experts noted that the use of modern monitoring and data analysis systems can improve the efficiency of water resource allocation and reduce losses during use.
The forum included a roundtable discussion on improving water use efficiency in the face of climate change. Its goal was to support Central Asian countries in developing their water management systems.
Dilshod Umarov, Director General of the Tajik Research Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Land Reclamation, presented a report representing Tajikistan. He presented an analysis of the cost structure of water management organizations in the country and emphasized the need to implement modern approaches to ensure sustainable development in the sector.
"Such international platforms allow us to exchange experiences, discuss problems, and develop joint solutions, which is especially important in the context of global climate change," said forum participants.
Following the discussions, experts concluded that coordinating efforts in water conservation and the development of irrigation systems is of strategic importance for ensuring food security and sustainable development in Central Asian countries.
