On September 16, a joint meeting of the Public Council of the Basic Oncology Organization of the CIS Member States in the field of oncology and the Presidium of the Association of Directors of Oncology and Radiology Centers and Institutes of the CIS and Eurasia was held in Moscow as part of the VIII International Forum of Oncology and Radiotherapy "For Life/For Life," the press service of the Organization's Executive Committee reported.
The event was attended by the heads of national oncology centers of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, and the CIS Executive Committee.
The meeting participants noted that malignant neoplasms are on the rise globally, with mortality from this pathology remaining quite high. Therefore, cooperation between specialists from Commonwealth countries in combating cancer is important and relevant.
Across the Commonwealth, a key oncology organization is conducting extensive work to analyze the situation with cancer morbidity and mortality.
Building on the best practices of our countries and the need for practical and scientific collaboration, the Public Council has approved a draft Action Plan for the implementation of the Concept for Cooperation between CIS Member States in the Field of Cancer Control for 2027–2031. The draft document will be presented to the Commonwealth Ministers of Health at the next meeting of the CIS Healthcare Cooperation Council in October of this year.
Representatives of the Republic of Belarus briefed meeting participants on the key stages of preparation for the 15th Congress of Oncologists and Radiologists of the CIS and Eurasia. The event will be held in Minsk in 2026, the Year of Health in the Commonwealth of Independent States.
