The Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan has warned educational institutions against inflating textbook rental fees. Parents who encounter charges that exceed the established rates have the right to appeal to the ministry, the ministry's press service reported .
The department noted that textbooks are provided to students according to an approved price list, and education departments may only add a 2% delivery fee to their cost. All educational materials are purchased in bulk for schools, lyceums, gymnasiums, presidential schools, boarding schools, and other educational institutions.
"Schools are responsible for providing students with textbooks within the framework of current regulations and without additional fees," the ministry emphasized.
Textbook rental is regulated by a procedure that stipulates that educational literature is sold at cost. If the established prices are exceeded, citizens can file a complaint with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan.
