Police officers in Vahdat and the J. Balkhi district have uncovered several thefts committed in May and June 2025, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan reported.
A 52-year-old local resident contacted the Vahdat Department of Internal Affairs (OVD) to report that in June 2025, unknown individuals broke into his grocery store and stole food worth 57,000 somoni. During the investigation, police detained three Vahdat residents—a 17-year-old teenager and two 24-year-olds.
During the investigation, it was revealed that that same month, the detainees broke into another grocery store, owned by a 49-year-old resident of Vahdat, and stole food products worth 22,000 somoni.
Additionally, the J. Balkhi District Department of Internal Affairs received a report from a 55-year-old local resident regarding the theft of 64 sacks of sugar from his apartment in May 2025. The damage amounted to 30,000 somoni. As a result of operational and investigative measures, two residents of the district were detained—a 23-year-old man and a 17-year-old teenager.
All crimes are under investigation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified. Law enforcement reminds citizens to observe safety precautions and exercise caution when storing property.
