Rostov Football Club and Tajikistan national team goalkeeper Rustam Yatimov will miss the 2027 Asian Cup qualifying matches against the Maldives, scheduled for October 9 and 14. The Football Federation of Tajikistan (FFT) announced this.
According to national team doctor Farrukh Avezov, after a medical examination in Dushanbe, Yatimov was diagnosed with problems with his right shoulder. The player sustained the injury while playing for FC Rostov.
The coaching staff of the Tajikistan national team, led by head coach Goran Stevanovic, decided not to risk the goalkeeper's health and to give him time to fully recover.
Istiklol football club goalkeeper Mukhriddin Khasanov was called up to the national team to replace Rustam Yatimov. The Football Federation of Russia emphasized that the replacement will help maintain the team's high level of preparation for the upcoming matches.
The Tajikistan national team is preparing to face the Maldives in the second stage of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifying round, aiming to consolidate its position in the group and ensure successful progression in the standings.
