The first meeting of defense ministers of Central Asian countries took place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on October 20, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The event was attended by delegations from the defense departments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The first meeting of the Central Asian defense ministers began with a flower-laying ceremony at the "Grieving Mother" monument and an official photo session against the backdrop of the participating countries' national flags.
During the event, the heads of defense departments discussed strengthening regional security, defense cooperation, and prospects for joint collaboration in military training and exercises.
Following the meeting, final documents were signed, formalizing agreements on further cooperation and exchange of experience between the defense ministries of the countries in the region.
