The first environmentally friendly data center powered by renewable hydroelectric energy will be built in Tajikistan's Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO). This was announced at the AI Conf international forum held in Dushanbe.
Tajik company darya.ai and Indian data center developer Yotta Data are reportedly forming a joint venture to build a data center in the Darvaza region.
The center will become a key element of the national artificial intelligence infrastructure. It will aim to develop the country's AI sector and achieve the goal of AI accounting for up to 5% of Tajikistan's gross domestic product by 2040.
The new data center will be powered entirely by renewable hydroelectric energy. It will provide computing power to government agencies, research organizations, and businesses, as well as provide startups with access to cutting-edge NVIDIA GPU-based technologies for developers, engineers, and entrepreneurs.
