Dushanbe police officers detained three members of an organized drug trafficking ring and seized 36 kilograms of opium during a search, according to the Dushanbe Department of Internal Affairs press service.
According to investigators, the detainees planned to transport the drugs to the Sughd region, where they were to be sold by other members of the criminal network.
The arrest was carried out by officers from the Department for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking of the Dushanbe City Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs during a comprehensive investigative operation.
A criminal case has been opened against the suspects under Article 200 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. A preliminary investigation is currently underway.
