In Tajikistan, 102 cases of suicide among women were recorded in the first six months of 2025. This is eight less than in the same period in 2024. This was reported by the Chairperson of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Bunafsha Faiziddinzoda at a press conference in Dushanbe.
Specialists are particularly concerned about the increase in the number of suicides among underage girls. According to official information, in the first half of 2025 this figure was 30 cases, which is six more than in the previous year.
"We are recording a decrease in the overall level of suicides among women, but we are seeing an increase in such tragedies among underage girls. This requires special attention from the relevant structures and society as a whole," the head of the Committee emphasized.
Also, during the reporting period, 792 crimes committed by women were recorded, which is eight cases more than in the same period in 2024. Underage girls committed 10 crimes, an increase of two cases.
According to law enforcement agencies, 1,810 crimes were registered against women, and 154 against underage girls.
The Committee for Women and Family Affairs, together with other government agencies, continues to implement programs to support women, prevent crime, and work with minors to prevent such tragedies.
