On July 30, 2025, the opening of the in-person stage of the annual Commonwealth Youth Cybersport Games took place, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.
The games are held with the support of the Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States and the Russian Computer Sports Federation in order to popularize and develop eSports among the youth of the Commonwealth countries.
Young athletes from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, who passed the online selection round, took part in the in-person stage of the Games.
CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev sent a greeting to the organizers, participants and guests of the competition. In it, he expressed gratitude to the tournament organizers for the well-thought-out multi-level format of the Games using modern information technologies, which made it possible to bring to life one of the most accessible and popular events for the youth of the Commonwealth countries.
Lebedev noted that the qualities and abilities developed in the process of playing eSports, such as the desire to win, strategic thinking, attentiveness and the ability to work in a team, are important not only in sports, but also in education, creativity and professional activities.
The CIS Secretary General expressed his conviction that the holding of the Commonwealth Youth Cybersport Games will play an important role in developing high moral qualities among young people, fostering patriotism, the will to achieve goals, and will also expand and strengthen sports ties in the Commonwealth.
