On the night of July 29, Ukrainian air defense forces actively repelled a massive attack by unmanned attack vehicles and missiles launched by Russian troops. As of 02:30, air raid sirens were declared in nine regions of Ukraine – Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Cherkasy and Kirovohrad.
According to the latest data from the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a strike group of kamikaze drones was heading from the territory of Russia to different regions of the country. In particular, UAV groups were moving from the Belgorod region to the Kharkiv region, to the center of the Sumy region – to the city of Sumy, from the west of the Kharkiv region – in a westerly direction, as well as from the northwest of the Poltava region towards Cherkasy. In addition, drones were spotted in the center and in the east of the Dnipropetrovsk region, moving in the direction of the city of Dnipro.
Social media reported two explosions in the city of Kamenskoye in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The Telegram channel "Mykolaiv Vanek" reported the launch of ballistic missiles at the city, which, according to assumptions, could have been adjusted using reconnaissance drones.
The night attack was a continuation of a large-scale strike by Russian troops that began on the evening of July 28. The main direction of the shelling was the city of Starokostiantyniv in the Khmelnytsky region. According to the Ukrainian military, 324 attack drones and imitators, four Kh-101 cruise missiles, and three Kh-47 M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles were launched from 19:30.
Missiles and drones were launched from various points on the territory of Russia – Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol regions, as well as from the Millerovo and Shatalovo airfields. In addition, shelling was carried out from the airspace of the Saratov and Lipetsk regions.
On the morning of July 29, the Ukrainian Air Force reported shooting down or suppressing 309 attack drones and two Kh-101 missiles using electronic warfare. Two missiles and fifteen drones were hit in three locations. According to the Ukrainian military, the Kh-47 M2 Kinzhal missiles did not reach their targets.
Russian shelling and drone strikes remain one of the main threats to Ukraine's civilian population and infrastructure. The military continues to actively counter attacks and minimize damage.
