On July 11, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon put into operation a drinking water supply line designed to provide water to 500 families in the village of Sangiston in the Ayni district, the press service of the head of state reported.
To accumulate clean water and provide the population with water all year round, a reservoir with a capacity of 100 cubic meters was built, which became a significant gift for the residents of the village of Sangiston.
Drinking water supply is provided through a vertical well 35 meters deep, from which water is lifted using specialized electric pumps and supplied to remote settlements located far from the source.
The drinking water supply line project was implemented in cooperation with development partners and is an important step towards achieving the set creative goals.
Construction work began in May of this year and was completed on time and with high quality. More than 30 local specialists were hired to perform the work, provided with temporary employment.
It is worth noting that the village of Sangiston is one of the densely populated areas of the Aini district, its development and prosperity is associated with the period of independence of the country. According to data for January 2025, the population of the village exceeded 2,475 people.
Due to population growth, the need for clean drinking water has increased, which previously led to restrictions in its use. Now, with the commissioning of a new water supply line, villagers are provided with water around the clock.
This project was implemented within the framework of the global initiative of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on water resources and climate issues, including in the context of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028”.
Emomali Rahmon expressed gratitude to the project implementers for their unity and active participation in achieving the Government’s goals, noting this project as a model and worthy example to follow.
Residents of the village of Sangiston in the Aini district expressed gratitude to the head of state for his constant care and confirmed their readiness to contribute to the prosperity and improvement of the Motherland.
To provide infrastructure, a 6-kilometer road inside the village, connecting the center of the district with the village of Sangiston, was completely improved, which created comfortable conditions for the unimpeded movement of traffic.
The road was built taking into account modern road construction requirements and is equipped with street lighting. The contribution of active residents and initiative people of the village to these transformations was noted by the head of state as an example for the model.
