The 10th Republican meeting of "Young Geologists" took place in the picturesque Romit Gorge, bringing together about 70 schoolchildren from all regions of Tajikistan, reports NIAT "Khovar".
The event was attended by students from grades 7–11 who are passionate about geology. The gathering was organized by the Main Department of Geology under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and was timed to coincide with the International Year of Glacier Conservation.
The Head of the Main Geology Department Ilhomjon Oymukhammadzoda, speaking to the participants, noted the importance of the event and emphasized the strategic support of the youth by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. Particular attention was paid to the topic of glaciers and their importance for the sustainability of geological, ecological and climatic systems.
The meeting was aimed at developing schoolchildren’s interest in earth sciences, fostering environmental culture, patriotism and professional orientation of young people.
Based on the results of the competition program:
1st place was taken by the team "Kashshof" (Kairakum complex geological exploration expedition);
The 2nd place was shared by the teams “Nasturan” and “Zarafshon”;
The third place went to the teams "Chashma", "Ganj" and "Pamir".
The winners were awarded diplomas and Certificates of Honor of the Main Department of Geology under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
