On the night of July 2, Russian armed forces carried out large-scale artillery and air strikes on several regions of Ukraine. One of the most severe consequences was the attack on Kherson, where the building of one of the local hospitals was damaged as a result of artillery shelling.
The head of the Kherson regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported on Telegram that the administrative building of a medical facility was destroyed as a result of the enemy attack. Among the injured were five patients and three nurses. Five of them were hospitalized with serious injuries – blast wounds, concussions, and shrapnel damage. In addition, after repeated shelling of the Korabelny district of Kherson, another person was hospitalized.
Strikes on other regions of Ukraine
Russian attack drones also attacked the Kharkiv region. The Novobavarsky district of Kharkiv and the Kupyansky district of the region came under fire, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) reports. As a result of the attacks in Kharkiv, a service station, an apartment building, an administrative building, non-residential premises and a public transport stop were damaged. There are no casualties registered in the city yet.
In the Kupyansk district, UAVs struck two agricultural enterprises, causing fires in warehouses and hay. Three people were injured.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, five people were injured as a result of attacks. The buildings of a private enterprise in Kryvyi Rih and a farm in the Samarovsky district were damaged. In the Nikopol district, a multi-story residential building, a private house, a garage, outbuildings and a power line were damaged after shelling by artillery and FPV drones.
Over 40 air attacks were recorded in Donetsk Oblast overnight. The settlements of Konstantinovka, Liman, Dobropolye, Sharovoe, Raiskoye and Aleksandrivska Oblast came under fire, the State Emergency Service reported.
In Odessa Oblast, Russian drones struck port and tourist infrastructure facilities in Izmail District. Local authorities clarified that there were no civilian casualties.
Ukrainian Air Force Shot Down Most Attack Drones
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that on the night of July 2, the Russian army used four S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles and about 114 unmanned aerial vehicles to strike Ukrainian territory. The missiles were launched from the territory of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, and the drones took off from Bryansk, Shatalovo, Kursk, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
Ukrainian air defense forces managed to shoot down 79 of these drones in the north, east and south of the country. According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, hits of enemy attack drones were recorded in 14 locations, as well as the crashes of downed drones in two additional areas.
The escalation of hostilities continues to cause significant damage to civilian infrastructure and threaten the lives of civilians in various regions of Ukraine.
