Three tragic incidents resulting in loss of life have been recorded in different regions of Tajikistan over the past two days, the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan reported.
The first accident occurred on June 30, 2025 at 12:30 in the city of Gissar. A 26-year-old resident of the village of Bogiston, Somoni rural jamoat, while swimming, accidentally drowned in the Big Gissar Canal, which runs along Bedil Street in the village of Gissar.
On July 1 at 06:30 in the morning, approximately 200 meters downstream, local residents discovered the body of the deceased and handed it over to the relevant authorities for forensic examination.
On the same day, at about 16:30, a tragedy occurred in the village of Devlokh, rural jamoat Tusen. A 7-year-old boy, playing football near the shore, accidentally fell into the river and drowned. Rescuers from the Special Rapid Response Unit of the GBAO Emergency Situations Committee were sent to the scene after receiving a signal about the incident. Search operations were organized both on the surface of the water and under water. However, the child's body has not yet been found, and search operations are ongoing.
Also on July 1 at 12:00 on the Dushanbe – Nurek – Dangara highway, in the area of the rural jamoat of Puli Sangin (Tutkovul village), a traffic accident occurred involving a DFAC fire truck with state number 425 03 RT.
As specified by the Committee, the vehicle belongs to the State Fire Service of the city of Nurek and was traveling from the Dangara district to the city of Nurek. A 33-year-old resident of Nurek was driving. The preliminary cause of the accident was loss of control over the vehicle.
As a result of the accident, a 41-year-old resident of the city of Vahdat, who was in the car, died. The driver was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The Emergency Situations Committee calls on citizens to observe safety measures when swimming, as well as to comply with traffic regulations and the operation of special equipment.
