The Tajikistan national team won five medals at the prestigious international sambo tournament, the Grand Prix, which was held in Krasnodar. This was reported by the republican portal Sports.tj with reference to the Sambo Federation of Tajikistan.
The strongest athletes from Russia, Armenia, Abkhazia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Greece and Tajikistan took part in the competition. The tournament was distinguished by high competition and a solid prize fund: 500 thousand rubles were awarded for first place, 300 thousand for second place, and 100 thousand rubles for third place.
Following the competition, the Tajik team added one silver and four bronze medals to their collection. In combat sambo, Ramazon Birinjov (weight category up to 88 kg) performed most successfully, confidently going through the entire tournament and only losing to his opponent in the final, becoming the silver medalist.
Bronze medals in the combat section were also won by Shakhbozi Nozimzoda (64 kg) and Shokir Mirakov (79 kg), demonstrating technical and enduring wrestling.
In sports sambo, two experienced athletes distinguished themselves: multiple participant in international tournaments Komronshokhi Ustopiriyon (98 kg), as well as Khamroz Radjabov (88 kg), both took third place in their weight categories.
According to the coaching staff, the performance in Krasnodar was an important part of the preparation for the next stages of the international season and confirmed the high level of the Tajik sambo school.
