A special event entitled “Water Action and Ecological Traditions for a Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Future” was held in Brussels, during which Tajikistan’s leading role in the global water agenda was emphasized. This was reported by the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The event was timed to coincide with the discussion of the results of the International High-Level Conference on Glacier Conservation, held in Dushanbe from May 29 to 31. In his speech, the Chairman of the Committee, Bakhodur Sheralizoda, particularly noted the importance of the global initiatives of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on water and climate issues.
The participants paid special attention to the launch of the “New Process for Glacier Conservation”, which was initiated in Dushanbe, and the prospects for its further advancement.
Participants emphasized Tajikistan’s leadership in the international arena in matters of sustainable water resources management and the preservation of glaciers as the most important sources of fresh water.
