In the city of Penjikent in the Sughd region, farmers have begun harvesting early potatoes. This was reported on Saturday by the city's Executive Authority.
According to the department, one of the first to start harvesting was the dehkan farm headed by Muslim Kholikov, located in the rural jamoat of Khalifa Hasan. This season, the farm sowed 19 hectares of land, mainly with early potato varieties. The first harvest has already arrived at the local market.
“The average yield of early potatoes is up to 250 centners per hectare,” the city administration clarified.
Other farms in this jamoat have also planted early varieties of potatoes on a total area of about 70 hectares. After harvesting, these lands are planned to be used for sowing carrots, bell peppers, turnips and legumes.
Overall, according to city authorities, potatoes in Penjikent will be grown on an area of about 3,900 hectares in 2025.
