The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan warns residents and visitors of the country with reference to the Agency for Hydrometeorology that from June 6 to 9, in the districts of Khatlon and Sughd regions, in the districts of republican subordination (RRS) and in the city of Dushanbe, increased air pollution is expected. This is due to the penetration of dust from the southern and southwestern regions. The concentrations of fine dust particles in the air – PM10 and PM2.5, which can be harmful to health, will increase.
Particular attention should be paid to people with heart disease, vascular disease and diabetes.
What to do in such a situation
For drivers and tourists:
Be especially careful when driving, especially in mountains and on rough terrain.
Keep a distance between cars – rockfalls are possible.
Recommendations for the population:
Drink more water – at least 2-2.5 liters per day, of which 0.5 liters should be mineral water.
Keep the windows closed. Ventilate the room closer to midday, when the dust rises upward. You can cover the windows with damp gauze or cloth.
Clean regularly – wipe floors and windows with a damp cloth to remove any settled dust.
Do not use contact lenses, especially in very dusty conditions.
For people with asthma and respiratory diseases:
Do not reduce the dose of medication.
Keep your inhaler with you at all times.
If the need for an inhaler exceeds 4-6 times a day, consult a doctor.
