Criminal investigation officers of the Dushanbe Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained two suspects in a large-scale fraud related to deceiving citizens in the sale of counterfeit precious metals. This was reported by the press service of the capital's Department of Internal Affairs.
According to the investigation, the detainees – 22-year-old resident of the city of Kulyab Amirkhamza Nazarmakhmadov and 30-year-old resident of the Khovaling district Kuvatali Kurbonov, previously convicted five times for theft – sold copper under the guise of gold. The fraudsters processed the metal, giving it the appearance of a precious alloy, after which they sold it in parts at an inflated price, misleading buyers.


As a result of the fraud, the criminals managed to seize significant amounts of money from gullible citizens. The total damage is being clarified.
The suspects have been detained and are currently under arrest. A criminal case has been opened against them and an investigation is underway.
