On May 15-16, 2025, a Conference of Trade Union Leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States was held in Beijing, organized by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the SCO press service reported.
The event, which is being held for the first time at the initiative of the Chinese side, will feature thematic discussions on "Deepening humanitarian exchanges to strengthen mutual understanding between the peoples of the SCO countries," "Consolidating the efforts of trade unions to fulfill the SCO mission," and "Overcoming modern challenges and jointly developing measures to protect workers' rights."
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Secretary-General of the Organization Batyr Tursunov noted that holding this meeting within the framework of the plan of activities of the Chinese chairmanship is a practical step in implementing the decisions of the heads of member states in terms of promoting the improvement of the well-being of workers.

It was noted that the agenda of the Conference reflects the idea of joint development within the SCO, emphasizes the significant role of trade unions in ensuring the protection of workers' rights and social justice. The Secretariat of the Organization is ready to provide all possible assistance in exchanging experience and strengthening cooperation between trade union associations of member states in the interests of development and prosperity.
The event was attended by heads of trade union organizations of the SCO member states, as well as Mongolia and Turkmenistan.
