A meeting of the expert group to agree on the draft Concept for the creation of a Unified Electronic Platform of the Commonwealth of Independent States for the exchange of information was held on May 14 at the CIS headquarters, the press service of the Organization's Executive Committee reports.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs, the Council of Ministers of Justice, the Council of Chairmen of Supreme (Highest) Courts, the Bureau for the Coordination of the Fight against Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Types of Crimes in the Territory of the CIS Member States, and the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth.
The experts reviewed and discussed the draft Concept, taking into account the comments and suggestions received. The meeting participants considered it appropriate to continue working on the document within the expert group.
It should be noted that the draft Concept for the creation of a Unified Electronic Platform of the Commonwealth of Independent States for the exchange of information was developed for the purpose of effective implementation of the provisions of the conventions on legal assistance and legal relations in civil, family and criminal cases of January 22, 1993 and October 7, 2002, as well as further improvement of methods, approaches and mechanisms in the sphere of mutual legal assistance. This is due to the need to intensify the process of providing such assistance between countries by further introducing information and communication technologies into it.
