On May 13, 2025, the 9th meeting of the ministers of education of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was held in Urumqi, China. The event was attended by heads of relevant departments, university rectors, experts and representatives of the academic community of the Organization's countries, the press service of the Organization reports.
The heads of delegations exchanged views on current issues of education development in the SCO space. Particular attention was paid to improving digital education tools and promoting inter-university cooperation.
In his address to the delegates, Deputy Secretary-General Janesh Kane noted the SCO's significant potential in the field of education, including in studying best practices, introducing innovative educational technologies, and digitalization. In this context, he stressed the importance of continuing joint work on this track.

Following the meeting, the general commitment of the Organization’s member states to strengthening partnership in the area of multilateral educational cooperation and academic exchanges was confirmed.
