Issues of expanding direct flights between Tajikistan and China, including on the Dushanbe-Beijing and Dushanbe-Xi'an routes, as well as establishing regular cargo flights were discussed during talks in Dushanbe. This was reported on Tuesday by the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The negotiations took place on May 13, and were attended by the Director of the Civil Aviation Agency Khabibullo Nazarzoda, Deputy Head of the China Air Transport Association Duan Xiaofeng, General Director of Tianshan International Airport (Urumqi) Wang Dongming, Assistant to the Chairman of the China Air Transport Association Zhu Yuchun, Sales Manager for Central Asia of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) Yang Zhikun, and Vice President for Marketing of the Business Management Committee of China Southern Air Holding Company Ltd Huang Guofang.
According to the agency, the parties discussed issues of expanding the route network, launching direct passenger flights on the Dushanbe-Beijing and Dushanbe-Xi'an routes, as well as creating regular cargo flights between the two countries.
"The development of direct air links between Tajikistan and China will contribute to the deepening of bilateral economic, trade and tourism cooperation, and will also increase the competitiveness of Tajik civil aviation," the Agency noted.
The parties also considered the possibilities of cooperation in the use of modern aircraft manufactured by Chinese COMAC and the promotion of joint initiatives in the field of civil aviation.
"The management of the Civil Aviation Agency of Tajikistan intends to continue holding such meetings with representatives of leading aviation companies and organizations from around the world to study best practices and develop the industry," the agency emphasized.
