President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon sent a congratulatory telegram to the newly elected Pope Robert Francis Prevost on the occasion of his election as head of the Roman Catholic Church. This was reported on Friday by the press service of the head of state.
In the telegram, Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Pope the Prevost, the Holy See will continue to make a significant contribution to strengthening international peace, stability, interreligious tolerance and dialogue between civilizations.
"I have the honor to send you my sincere congratulations on your election as Pope of Rome, the head of the Roman Catholic Church. I am confident that the Holy See, under your creative leadership, will continue to promote peace, tolerance and the advancement of universal human values," the congratulations read.
The President of Tajikistan emphasized Dushanbe’s interest in further developing good and constructive relations with the Vatican in all areas of mutual interest.
"We express our readiness to continue making fruitful efforts to continue mutually beneficial cooperation with the Vatican, based on the principles of mutual understanding and respect," Emomali Rahmon noted.
In conclusion, the head of state wished the Pope good health, happiness and success in his upcoming mission.
